Senior Parking Spots

I got super side tracked and went back on my blog and updated 2007, 2008 & 2009. Some posts I just added a featured image and enlarged the images in others I broke apart one post into multiple and added images and in others I made new posts. It’s been wild reliving those first few years. I’ll probably do 2010, 2011 & 2012. I noticed I’m missing a few key things from then.

Anyway back to the present. At the beginning of August the kids got to paint their parking spots for the year. They had to submit designs and get them approved before they could paint. Since we knew what they were doing already Jayse and I went to Lowe’s and bought all the paint and supplies they would need.

Saturday the kids got up early and went to the school where they were able to select their spot. Once the spots were all picked they came home and then we went back to start painting. Greg was at the property so the kids and I were there. They started scraping off the old paint and taping out their space and then putting down the first coat. There wasn’t much I could help with so I just took pictures. Jayse and I got into a bit of an argument and so I decided to leave. They had things under control. Just as I left Greg showed up. He checked on the kids and then left to come back and have lunch with me.

Jayse finished his spot that day. Jaelee came home a little after him and all she had done was the base layer and drawn out a few circles. Her and I went back to take a look and we realized we needed something bigger to draw the circles. We tried string and it didn’t really work. We tried some hoops for flower arrangements I’d gotten at the dollar store but they were too small. We ended up going to Target and buying 2 sizes of hula hoops. We went back and erased all the circles they had made earlier and then drew new circles. We called that good for the day.

On Sunday morning Jaelee and I went back and started painting the circles. So glad we can a tent to cover us. It was so hot! We had to keep moving it to stay in the shade but it was worth it. We took a break in the afternoon when it was really hot. We had all the circles colored we just needed to put the smiley faces on them and then outline all the circles. We went back later that evening. We convinced Greg and Jayse to come help and Jaelee’s friend Leora. With all of us helping we got it all done right before some rain clouds came in.

They both turned out pretty great. Jayse and his friend Tyson got spots right next to each other and did Dumb & Dumber.
