The marching band attended the WAMCC. It’s a clinic and competition. So in the morning the bands perform in their tshirts, they go over their performance a few times and then they break out into groups where they get feedback from judges. Then they take that feedback and perform a final time. It is a competition so there are awards after finals.
I decided to volunteer. Greg and I volunteered to help them load equipment on the truck. I gotta be honest it was a big fat waste of time. We stood around for 2 hours waiting for everything to be ready to load. Once it was there were so many people to help we didn’t do much. We slowly left. I had to be back in an hour to help at the competition so I wanted to get home and get some lunch.
I met the other parent and students at Rocky where the competition was. Again, nothing was ready to so went over to where the kids were rehearsing and just took photos. Once it was time for them to take the field for the clinic portion I helped the front ensemble move their equipment onto the field. I then took a bunch of pictures while they were performing. I tried to get some of each person but man it is hard when there are 129 of them!
After helping I went home and got some dinner and then went back again to help with the final performance. I again was part of the pit crew helping get the equipment out on the field. I took pictures of the night performance. I forgot to take my camera off the digital shutter and the lights messed with the pictures and added red lines in all of them. Dang it!
After their performance I went into the stands to watch a few other bands and wait for the awards. Centennial ended up taking 1st! So proud.
I didn’t take any video but one of the other parents did:
