This was Jayse’s last game in the regular season. It was at Meridian. This year Meridian has not done as great as in years past. Their record was 1-7 so they had only won one game. We thought this would be a competitive game and we may have a chance to finally win one.
My mom was in town and came to the game with us. Jayse called me while before the game. He was really upset and said he was told one of the coaches said he wasn’t playing some corners because he didn’t want to embarrass them. Jayse took it personally and wanted to quit. Greg talked him into staying and told him to take his anger out in the game and play hard. Boy did he! He did so good. He played a lot and was tackling a good amount of people.
At the end of the 1st quarter we were winning. It was a good feeling. Sadly, that didn’t last long and we ended up losing 40-14.

Our first and only game where we were ahead on the scoreboard. Also 6-7.

A photographer on the field got this video of the guys entering:
After every single game, the team gathers in front of the student section and sings the school song. Jayse hates this tradition. I’m glad the photographer got a video of it.
