For my mom’s 70th birthday we decided to drive down there and surprise her. She had had surgery and wasn’t very mobile. I’d made her picture collage present and figured the best way to get it there was to take it ourselves. So Hunter, Jaelee, Jayse and Jayse’s girlfriend Emma all drove down there with me. We left early in the morning. I had been in touch with my mom’s husband Randy to make sure they were around.

We made it down there with no problems. We stopped at the gas station by my mom’s place and put up a birthday banner and had Jaelee out the sunroof with a poster. We rolled down the windows and showed up to her house with a happy birthday song blasting and honking the horn.

She couldn’t get up from the couch so Randy opened the door for her to see us.

We got some lunch and spent a few hours there. They had just gotten new windows installed in their house and wanted some furniture rearranged in the bedroom so the guys helped with that. We had to be back so we left and hit the road again. One of my headlights went out. We stopped to get one and Jayse installed it for me. Big kids are so great!

I knew I’d be bored with all that driving so I entertained myself with the full cast audio book of Harry Potter and tried to document everything with video.

Glad we were able to go down there and surprise my mom for her birthday.
