Jaelee had another band concert. This was more of a rehearsal. They had districts that week and this was a pre-festival concert and gives families a chance to hear their music for the District III Festival. There are certain rules and songs they have to pick from. I don’t remember all of them – even though the band director explains it every year BUT I do know they have to have at least one march. At districts they perform their 3 pieces in front of judges and get feedback. One of the judges is the composer for one of the songs they were playing. I’ll have to ask Jaelee which one.

While I was recording I realized almost all the way through the march that I was in fact not recording and I only got the last 50 seconds. Whoops.

I thought their second song was absolutely beautiful. Jaelee said the band director loved this song and had been wanting to do it for a long time. She said she got a bit emotional.

In the third song they had a contrabass clarinet. It’s like the bass clarinet Jaelee plays but even bigger. You can hear it in the deep notes in part of the song around 20 seconds of the video. I liked this song too, it had some interesting sounds and instruments in it.
