We had cheer practices every week Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. We worked on new cheers, making ones we knew crispier, practiced our dance and stunt and made the poster each week for the football players to run through at the end of the game.

Some days it was challenging. We had a lot of goofing. Some that were tired or didn’t want to cheer. Almost every practice we didn’t have a full team, which made practicing the stunt and dance challenging. Sometimes I had to separate girls and constantly had to remind them we were a team and we were learning, human and we needed to encourage each other.

Towards the end if they practiced really well for 45 minutes I let them go play at the park for the last 15 minutes of practice. I also brought starbursts to treat those that were behaving and the last week of practice I brought rice crispy treats when they did their cheers really crisp.

The week of practices before game 7, we didn’t know if this would be the last week or not. If the boys won game 7 they went to the championship, if they lost we were done. The boys were undefeated so we thought we might make it all the way but just in case I acted as if this was our last week of practice.

I had the girls do all of our cheers and I recorded them. That way next year I’ll have all of the cheers and the moves so I don’t have to remember what we did.

On Thursday our very last practice I took the girls to Freddy’s a hamburger and frozen custard place. I let them each order some frozen custard and ordered a bunch of basket of fries.

I had made each of the girls a picture collage from some of the pictures I had taken over the season and gifted it to them. They all loved them very much and one of the girls told me days later that she couldn’t stop staring at it! Ha, so cute.

We had a great time, even though there were some challenging times this season I did enjoy it overall. They made me laugh, smile and so proud!
