Wednesday we didn’t have any pre-planned excursions so it’s the day we decided to go to the water park and use our free passes we got from the sales thing we had to go to.
Jaelee and I had wanted to swim with dolphins, it had been on my bucket list for a long time. With the passes to the water park we got 2 passes to swim with dolphins. We could of got 4 but the boys didn’t have any desire to swim with a dolphin like Jaelee and I.
We got to the water park just as it was opening and it was like a ghost town. There were not many people there. When we got in I kinda realized why. It was a bit old and run down. Rust on a lot of the slides, the lazy river water was pretty dirty with debris, feathers and some trash. This was just the icing on the sales pitch cake. The whole time they kept talking to us about 5 star this and 5 star that, I can not imagine this place is on a 5 star anything.
But we were already there and it was free. I told Jaelee that if our experience with the dolphin was not great I’d buy another package somewhere else and we’d go again another day.
Luckily we didn’t have to wait long for our dolphin experience. We rode in the lazy river a couple of times and went down one waterslide. Then went over to get ready for the dolphin swim.
Before our swim we took a picture at the entrance with a cute sea lion. One family had a kid who was screaming literally the entire time, not a little whine but full on screaming throwing a fit THE.ENTIRE.TIME. It was off to a great start.
Then we got lined up and put into groups and headed over to the pool with the dolphins. Jaelee and I were the only English speaking people in the whole thing. Luckily our instructor was very nice and spoke great English and everything he said in Spanish he turned to us and spoke English too.
We got in the water with the dolphin and the instructor he told us a bit about the dolphin. His name, how old he was. Meanwhile the screaming kid just keeps on screaming and now he’s joined by his sister. Luckily after they realized getting them in the water was not making the screaming any less they left. Finally, maybe this was going to turn out ok.
They did not allow photographs to be taken and the spectator area was far away. Greg and Jayse watched us for a while but got bored and went back to the water slides. I paid the extra money to get all the photos the photographers took.
Luckily as our time with the dolphin went on we got quit a bit of time with him. Jaelee and I both agreed later we were a bit bored in the beginning with the waving, petting and dancing. We wanted to swim with the dolphin.
Finally it was our time! Jaelee was the very first in our group to go. He had the dolphin turn onto his back and Jaelee was to grab onto his fins and he was going to take her for a ride around the pool. The dolphin turned over swam by her and she grabbed on and away they went. He took her in a quick circle around the little pool area we were in. Then it was my turn. The dolphin turned over and I grabbed on and away I went on my ride around the pool. That was pretty fun.
By the time everyone in our group got a ride on the dolphin a lot of the other groups were done and getting out of the pool. I thought if this is all we get I’m definitely buying us another dolphin experience but it wasn’t all! We were the last ones in the pool.
After a few more little experiences with the dolphin our instructor handed Jaelee and I a boogie board. He said we had to swim to the other side of the pool, one at a time get on the boogie board and then the dolphin will come up behind us and push us across the pool with our foot. We had to make sure whichever foot he pushes on we kept our leg straight. So her and I swam to the other side of the pool. Again, we were the first in our group to do this.
Jaelee went first, she got on the boogie board and the dolphin came up and pushed her across the pool. I was next I lay on the boogie board waiting for the dolphin. I finally felt him and made sure to keep my leg straight and then we were off. He pushed me across the pool. It was pretty fun. There were a couple of people in our group that for whatever reason had trouble and the instructor ended up having to call over another dolphin to help our dolphin get people back but instead of pushing their feet they just grabbed the top fin on both dolphins and they brought them back.
All in all if we hadn’t had as much time as we did with the dolphin it would of been a bummer but because we did Jaelee and I were satisfied with our experience. It ended up being pretty cool overall.
After our swim with the dolphin we met up with Greg and Jayse. We were all pretty hungry so we got some lunch in the little cafe there. It was actually pretty great food and just like everywhere else the service was amazing.
After lunch Jaelee wanted to go on some of the water slides. She went with Greg on a few while Jayse and I went around the lazy river. Then Jayse wanted to go on one with her. Of course while they went something happened and she banged her elbow on the side of the slide. Jayse came and found Greg and I in the lazy river to tell us Jaelee was hurt and crying. Luckily it was just a bad bang, nothing broken. At that point we were all kinda done anyway and decided to head back to our hotel.
When we got back we got changed and just kinda chilled in our room for a bit. We were kinda wore out so we didn’t want to go too far for dinner. We decided to go back to the little restaurant just up the street from our hotel. We’d been there the second day and it was delicious so might as well go back.
Even though from the beginning the day didn’t seem like it would be that great we all ended up having a good time. The boys enjoyed the water slides and Jaelee and I enjoyed our dolphin experience.
Luckily the photography for this place just gave me the digital copies of the photos.

When we were walking back to our hotel after dinner Jayse saw a vulture up high on the balcony of one of the floors of our hotel. So we had to go find it. We went up to the top floor and sure enough there he was.
