Weekend in Utah

We have hotel points and they were about to expire if we didn’t add another stay to them by the end of July so I thought we might as well go down to Utah and see Jenelle, my mom and take the kids to Lagoon. As I started adding everything up – the hotel, gas, lagoon tickets and food it was getting super expensive. So we talked with Jenelle who has season passes to Lagoon about taking our kids with her and Elijah. Greg and I would skip to save some money. She was willing! Greg and I decided while they were at Lagoon we’d go drive around the Utah mountains. The mountains there are beautiful and I can’t remember ever being up in them.

We didn’t get to Utah until pretty late Friday night so we checked into our hotel and went to grab something to eat. We ended up at Red Robin, they were short staffed just like every restaurant right now so our service was slow and not super great. But we left full and satisfied. The pool at our hotel stayed open pretty late but it was packed. So we met up with Jenelle at her apartments pool where the kids had sometime to swim and play.

Saturday Jenelle picked up the kids and they headed out to Lagoon. We found a path behind Lagoon we could take up into the mountains so we followed close behind them. We made a stop in Layton though where my grandparents lived for a long time. I wanted to go by a park I remember going to with my grandma. It was a beautiful park with some water behind it where we would bring bread and feed ducks and swans. I was able to find the park off of memory. It was still a very beautiful park but it was missing the huge wood barrel you could get it and make spin. Then we drove passed a bank my grandparents banked at. I remember this bank being huge and we always got a sucker when we went with them there. Such good memories.

We had a great time up in the mountains. It was pretty and it was much cooler up there. It would of been cool to see the valley below without all the smoke but it was still really nice. Jenelle and the kids all had fun at Lagoon and she sent some pictures.

That night we had dinner with my mom. It was a Saturday night and we tried one restaurant and they said it would be an hour wait. We knew it would be like that just about everywhere. We couldn’t decide where to go so we ended up at the mall in the food court. That way we could all pick what we wanted and it would be faster. It worked out pretty well. After dinner with my mom we went back to Jenelle’s apartment to hang out.

We left Sunday morning but stopped at Jenelle’s one more time before heading out. It was a quick weekend visit but nice.
