Amy and I thought we’d try the Trevi Fountain one more time before we left Rome. We got up early, rolled out of bed and walked there about 6:30 am. There was already a bunch of people there!
Look at all those people at 6:30!
We tossed our coins in the fountain so we have luck we’ll return to Rome again.
We walked back to our hotel and had breakfast on the rooftop. It was so beautiful. The food was delicious and we had the best view of Rome. We could see the huge monument, the Colosseum and St. Peters.
After breakfast Amy went back to the Pantheon and I went back to our room and got my camera to take more pictures from the roof.
On our way to the train station we stopped at the Spanish Steps. We didn’t get to see it much the first day because of the movie premiere that was happening there.
Back on the subway
At the trains station I had to buy a cup of ice. I had missed ice in my drink so much!
On the train towards Florence we started to see Tuscany.
When we got to Florence we left the train station and walked to our hotel. It wasn’t far away. This church is right outside train station.
This telephone was in the bathroom right across from the toilet.
Our tour guide in Rome told us we needed to go to Santa Croce in Florence. It’s where Michaelangelo is buried, with other notable people. We made an appointment for the day we arrived in Florence. Once we got settled in our hotel we wondered out on our way to the church. We went to the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge.
We saw these iron pieces on a lot of the buildings. We found out these are left over from when there were horses. They were so you could tie your horse up.
We saw this place and there was a huge line to it. We wanted to stop but had a specific time we need to be to the church so we didn’t.
We made it to the church. We couldn’t get the full front because it was all blocked off for some event.
I accidently picked the wrong day for our tickets. I bought them for the next day. We couldn’t go that day because we had a full day planned already. We were so lucky that everyone there was so nice and they gave us new tickets for that day. I am so glad our guide told us to go here and we got our tickets changed because it was beautiful!
This is where Michelangelo is buried.
Galileo’s Tomb
Still need to find out what OPA means. We saw it in several places.
Amy and I were super thirsty and wanted something from by this time. We found a Hard Rock Cafe and ate all the things. We each had a alcoholic beverage and then I think I drank 4 glasses of soda. We ordered nachos, sliders and shrimp. It was so nice to have something from home.
This is the hotel we stayed at.
Florence is famous for getting wine from windows. We knew we wanted to find one. On our way back to our hotel we found one. I don’t love wine so I didn’t get a drink but Amy did.
