Sawmill Structure

We got the sawmill set up but we needed something to cover it for the winter. We didn’t want to take it down and have to store it somewhere so Greg decided we needed to build a structure over it to keep it protected from snow for the winter.

He started by creating some concrete forms for poles to sit on. He did that at home with some buckets. Then him and Jayse went out to the property and drawknifed some logs to get the bark off for the posts.

Once they got the posts ready the milled some wood to use for the headers and rafters. I got up to the property at this part in the process. It was very impressive. It’s a very big structure.

I was out there for a bit watching them. We then had dinner together. Greg had helped a neighbor out there so they gave us some salmon and asparagus. So we cooked that up for dinner. After dinner Jayse and I went home. Greg stayed up there to keep working on the structure.
