Laundry, Dateline & Dragonflies

This weekend was a pretty quiet one.

Greg headed out to Thorn Creek for the weekend, but there wasn’t really much going on out there that I could help with. Rather than spend the gas driving back and forth, I decided to stay home.

And honestly, it was probably good for me.

There are always plenty of things around the house that get pushed aside when we’re busy with work, the property, trips and everything else.

So I caught up on laundry, cleaned the bathroom, worked on my blog and, of course, caught up on some Dateline.

Not exactly an exciting weekend, but sometimes it’s nice to get a few of those neglected things checked off the list.

Then my friend Greg called me.

He was at the park near our house and had spotted a big white bird. He thought I might like to come take some pictures of it.

He was right.

I grabbed my camera and headed over to meet him.

It turned out to be an egret, and we spent some time photographing it around the park.

Greg had also shown me some really great dragonfly pictures he’d taken there, so after we finished with the egret, we went to the area where he’d found them.

We managed to find a few dragonflies and got some pictures of those too.

It was a simple little outing, but I loved that he thought to call me when he saw the bird.

Apparently, this is what my friends have learned about me:

See an interesting bird or bug?

Call Darci.

She’ll bring a camera.

And honestly, I’m perfectly okay with that.
