A Foggy Beach & a Warm Fire

Saturday morning, Greg and Scott went out elk hunting.

They did see an elk, but they weren’t quite prepared to take the shot. They didn’t think they would see an elk as fast as they did do Scott was driving and didn’t have his bow ready. Darn it!

After hunting, Greg and I met up with Scott and Jen at a bar in Winchester Bay to watch the BSU vs. Ducks game.

It was a small local bar, and it was pretty much full of local men.

Jen and I were definitely the minority. 😂

We got there a little late and the table where Scott and Jen were sitting was already full, so we found another table. That’s where we met an old timber guy and his dog, Buffalo.

Buffalo was the cutest little fluffy dog. He was tiny and completely adorable, and he quickly became part of our afternoon.

We enjoyed watching the game and split some lunch while we sat there. It was just one of those fun little local experiences that you don’t really plan for when you’re on vacation.

After the game, we went back to Steve and LaRee’s for a little while before deciding to head back out toward the ocean.

It was such a nice day, and I really wanted to be outside enjoying it.

Unfortunately, Oregon had other plans.

When we got to the beach, it was completely foggy.

Of course.

After spending so much of the trip chasing fog and rain, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.

We didn’t even make it all the way down to the water. I took a few pictures, enjoyed the fog for a bit, and we decided that was good enough.

From there, we headed over to the golf course where Scott and Jen were having dinner. We met them there for a drink.

The golf course is beautiful, and it was a nice place to sit and visit for a while. The bartender was a young girl who happened to be related to people Greg and Scott had gone to school with, which seems to happen when we’re around this area.

Small towns.

You can go somewhere completely random and somehow discover you have three connections to the person behind the bar.

After we left the golf course, we headed over to Brian and Stacie’s.

They had a fire going, so we spent the evening sitting around the fire pit, talking and hanging out.

It was a pretty simple day, but those are some of my favorite vacation days.

A little hunting, a little football, a tiny dog named Buffalo, a foggy beach, drinks at a beautiful golf course and a night around a fire with family.

Not a bad Saturday in Oregon.

Greg back from hunting and taking a nap.
