Fall Camping

Just like last year we decided to go camping in the fall so Greg could deer hunt.  We went to the same spot.

On the way there Greg stopped along the way so I could take some landscape photos.  It was rainy and stormy so the clouds looked really cool.

Of course per our usual we got to the camp ground when it was already dark.  When we got there and got out of the jeep we noticed that one of the tires on our pop-up trailer was completely flat.  It had me a little worried that we’d have to leave it there and go back to town to get a new one.  Luckily, we had brought the kids’ bikes and the tire pump.  Greg used the tire pump to air up the camper tire and it seemed to hold air so we left it and unloaded the jeep and set up camp.

Since we got there at dark we didn’t do much but get camp ready and go to bed.  Greg woke up early the next morning and went hunting.  When the kids woke up we had breakfast and hung around camp for a bit.  Then we went exploring.  There was as small creek nearby that we went and played in.  I got in the water because I was trying to get pictures of it.  The water was freezing!  After a while I talked to the kids into finding rocks for me to make rock feet.  I saw this online before and thought they were really cute.  So we collected rocks and set them on a bigger rock to dry.  While the rocks were drying we walked down the creek towards a tunnel.  Along our walk we saw tiny little frogs.  I picked one up to show the kids and Jaelee wanted to hold it but Jayse backed away and wanted nothing to do with it.  We let the frog go and continued our advernture down the creek.  Just as we got close to the tunnel I was telling Jaelee to not go through it and as she got close the water seemed to get faster and she slipped and started to go into the tunnel.  I had to run down the creek and grab her.  Of course she was freezing after and did not want to go near the creek anymore so we went back to camp to change and warm up.

Greg arrived back at camp shortly after that – with no deer of course.  We decided to go on a ride in the jeep to the other side of the lake.  It had been pretty rainy so the trip around the lake was a little scary.  I thought we were going to get stuck in mud.  We made it to an isolated place where we could let Bo out so he could run his little heart out.

When we got back to camp the kids made friends with a little girl who’s parents were camping across from us.  They played a lot together.  The kids road their bikes and ran around.  They had a couple of teenage daughters that had gone out and collected a bunch of frogs in a cup.  The kids thought this was so cool and ran after them to go find frogs too.  They found a bunch and put them in a cup.  At this point Jayse finally wasn’t afraid of them and was catching them too.

While they were playing I snuck over to the creek and got my picture of the rock feet and a few other nature pictures.  I like how it turned out.

For the rest of the time we just hung out and ate.  We packed up early the next morning and headed out.  I was worried about our flat tire but it held air all the way back home.  It was another great camping trip!
