Labor Day in OR 2020 – Day 1 Crabbing

This year since the kids didn’t start school until after Labor Day weekend we decided to go Oregon for a week instead of just 3-4 days. I hadn’t had a break from work since January and I needed a major break. I have been working from home since March but hadn’t had a day off since January. It was so nice to be able to go over there for as long as we did. I would of been perfectly fine sitting and doing nothing for a week but we packed in a lot of fun stuff.

On the first day we went crabbing of course. Greg wanted to get out there and get some crab to be able to eat it while we were there. It was a pretty nice day out there and Greg caught a lot of crab.

My friend let me borrow a few of his lenses. One he let me borrow was a 600 mm. This thing was huge and heavy. It was so heavy he let me bring his monopod to help steady it. I was lucky that when I got to the beach there was a pelican and a blue heron. I love to take pictures of birds. I used the lens my friend let me borrow and if I knew how to steady that thing I could of got some great photos of the pelican. I got some photos but I don’t think a single one is completely in focus. It was so hard to track the bird with that huge heavy lens. But I’m adding the photos anyway cuz it’s still cool to see.

I also decided with my new video skills I would try and take more video. I made a video of the whole crabbing process and I really liked how it turned out. It will be a great way to remember what all goes into crabbing.
