My hometown does a big 4th of July Celebration. However, whenever the 4th is on a Sunday, they celebrate on the 3rd. My Aunt still lives out there and my cousins, their kids and another of my Aunts and her family were all going to be out there. So we went out there to join them. My brother Holden came out here with us.

We made it out there pretty early to catch the parade. We hadn’t done that for a few years so it was nice. I mostly took pictures of the parade. My cousin is on the 4th of July committee and she asked me to get some pictures she could use on their website. It is always a really good parade with a lot of floats, cars, tractors, horses and much more.

It was getting hot during the parade so afterwards we decided to go home, relax and cool off. The rest of my family were going to go down to the food and vendor area for the afternoon.

We headed back to Melba in the evening to my Aunt’s barn to hang out some more and eat dinner. We played some games, drank home made root beer and ate some pork tacos. I gotta say I’m not a big fan of root beer but that home made one was delicious!

When it was starting to get dark some of us headed to the school to watch the fireworks up close. Because my cousin is on the committee she had VIP access. We were able to pull into reserved parking and sit super close to the field on some nice hay bales. This is so cool because there are 1000s of people and typically to even park you’d have to be there hours ahead of time. It felt like we were VIP.

The fireworks show was great like always. I love how they time the fire works with music. I took some video but I’ll have to upload later….cuz crappy internet. It was really hard to get pictures because we were so close, with my big camera I’d need a wide angle lens. I tried to get some with my phone but it just isn’t the same.

After the fireworks we thought about going back to the barn but it took so long to just get out of the parking spot that we were ready to just head home after that. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get out of the school grounds and then traffic was backed up even on my out of the way short cuts. It was crazy but we made it home and are grateful we got to see and spend time with family for the day

Jaelee was worried about the fireworks noise and we forgot her headphones so we stuffed napkin in her ears.
