While the kids were enjoying their Spring Break during that weekend Greg and I were back up at the property. We’d used a lot of the wood we’d milled for the outhouse so Greg wanted to get back up there and cutting again to replenish our wood pile. I wanted to finish the outhouse. We just had the door to complete. We’d left the upper part of the door open as I wanted to put a window from our property in there. We’d taken a window back to our place in town so I could clean it and we could reinforce the glass. Even though the windows are in a pile and have been for years some of them still have glass.
Saturday we focused on milling. It was so warm out we again had to strip down – just crazy for this time of year. Greg wanted to go check his cameras and put up a blind so before it got too late we stopped milling and hiked up to his cameras. Luckily, we have been going to the gym and walking at the reserve so this hike up wasn’t as bad as it could of been. I made it to the top. Only my 2nd time. Unbelievably Greg hiked up there no problem with a huge blind connected to his back pack. While he set up the blind I looked around. He was setting it up in this meadow area of our property, right next to it is where he wants to build our future retirement home. There is a lot of potential there, it doesn’t have the wow view as another spot but has more of a building area and a big factor is it’s tucked away a bit so less wind.
As we were sitting there I asked Greg how far the beautiful view spot was, he said it was just over another ridge so I said ok let’s go. We made it over there and just sat for a while enjoying the view. It really is incredible.
We made our way back down and cooked up a delicious dinner.
The next day we worked on hanging the window for the door and I painted the bottom part of the door green. I had some sample jars of green and blue. I decided to use the green one for the door so it would match the window – which still had a bit of green in it. I loved how it turned out. I bought a shower head at the ReStore and hung it, we didn’t have the water heater to connect it yet but I wanted to get it up anyway.
Another great weekend out in the mountains.
Our wood pile had some mushrooms growing on it.

We checked in on the creek. The water is flowing but nothing compared to the flow last year when the snow was melting.

You can see the outhouse and the sawmill from our road below.

This is the meadow area at the top of our property – Greg has seen a lot of animal activity here. Building our house near hear would hopefully mean a lot of wildlife sightings.
