We were fortunate to be able to go watch Cole at his skateboarding competition. It was so fun to watch. You can tell that all of those kids are dedicated and passionate about skateboarding. It also seemed like a great group and I loved how they all cheered and encouraged each other.

I learned really quickly that I am not great at taking pictures of skateboarders. It was so hard! They move so fast I had a heck of a time getting photos.

When Cole had his run – they each got a minute I believe to do what they wanted – Greg said right after that Cole nailed it and he thought he’d been the best. He landed the most of his tricks.

They had a lot of kids in the competition – I don’t think they were prepared for that many so they ran out of time. So at the end they just did a a free for all. Whoever wanted to attempt going down the stairs could. Just over and over again. They kept going up in the stairs. So they started with 5 I believe, then 7 and then 11. By the time they got to jumping 11 stairs most of them didn’t attempt it. We saw one kid attempt it and land wrong on his knee. He looked like he was in a lot of pain and had to ice his knee the rest of the time. Cole kept attempting the stairs over and over and he finally landed it! The whole crowd went wild – he was so excited. His friends (and Kenzie) were all there to celebrate with him. It was awesome!

Cole did end up taking 1st place in his level! He won a new skateboard.

Hope we’ll get to watch him again.

This guy had a chicken he was carrying around in a chicken bag with chickens on it. It seemed strange. Cole said he just comes and hangs out there and is a local pastor.
