Another weekend another one spent at our property. We had a huge slash pile that Greg wanted to burn and we’d had some rain recently so it was the perfect time. Jayse and Greg went up to the property early in the morning to turkey hunt. I met them up there later to help. With the help of Greg’s friend Matt who stopped by they fell a large douglas fir tree and cut it into large portions to mill. We started burning the huge slash pile. Pictures don’t do this justice it was gigantic. Probably the size of a very large van. I stayed by the fire and kept an eye on it.
I had sewn up some curtains for the crap shack. So I brought them out there with me. I added them with a stick as a curtain rod.
Jayse left and went back home. Greg and I stayed out there and made a really nice dinner together.
We were able to use the shower for the first time and let me tell you what an upgrade this is from the cramped tiny shower in the camper. It was actually really cool. The pump that came with the water heater didn’t work so we ended up using our rinse kit as the pump. We didn’t have to boil water because we could use the water heater but we were limited to only the 3 gallons of water it holds. Even still it was awesome.
The next day when Greg and I woke up we saw a deer running along our driveway out front our camper. We’ve seen animals on our cameras before and other than a few small wildlife animals we hadn’t seen much so this was exciting.
Greg worked on creating a flat spot for a shed we were going to put in and then we called it a weekend.
I hate to lose nice big beautiful trees like this but they were so close together and so we decided to take one out for building. Look how long that is!

That burnt down place you can see in the background is on the neighbors property. They told us it was cheaper to have the fire dept use the house as a training site and burn it down then have it demolished. Hopefully, they’ll get back up here some day to take the trash out. It’s been like this since we bought our property and is an eye sore.

I loved how the smoke snaked through the mountains and trees.
